Diana Gibbs has stepped down as chair of the Australian Forest Products Association, with current CEO Joel Fitzgibbon taking over as chair.
Natasa Sikman has taken over as acting CEO, with the Board carrying out a “robust and independent recruitment process” for the position.
In a note to members obtained by Wood Central, Jean-Yves Nouaze – AFPA’s Deputy Chair, thanked Diana Gibbs for her contribution and leadership as AFPA Chair.
Ms Nouaze notes that Ms Gibbs will continue “her ongoing commitment to serving the industry as a Director of AFPA.”
“The Board also thanks Joel Fitzgibbon for stepping in as interim CEO for (a period) longer than intended.”
Mr Fitzgibbon, a former Agricultural Minister, will “continue to serve AFPA as a leading figure providing strategic guidance and advocacy support to our members, Board and employees.”
AFPA seeks to build on its current successes with an executive search firm assessing internal and external applicants.
Ms Nouaze said, “It is anticipated this process will be completed before the AGM in November.”
The Board would also like to take the opportunity to thank all AFPA staff for their energy, commitment and flexibility during this time of change.
Wood Central understands that this includes James Jooste, who has been appointed as CEO of AFPA NSW.
Mr Jooste steps into the role previously held by Victor Violante – and draws on experience across media and various senior government offices.
