Applications have opened for three non-executive director positions on the board of the industry’s research and development corporation, with the successful candidates to take their seats after the annual general meeting in November. That is according to Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA), which is recruiting the directors as part of a 2026 board renewal.
Candidates are sought across forestry, wood products manufacturing, timber in the built environment, marketing and innovation, with the board seeking broad governance capability in its next intake. Formal governance training through the Australian Institute of Company Directors or an equivalent is strongly encouraged.
Each seat carries an expected commitment of about 26 days a year across board meetings, preparation and travel, and is remunerated. Appointees will direct investment in research, innovation and market development across the forest and wood products value chain.
FWPA brings industry and government together to fund research and market growth that strengthen the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability. With an annual revenue of around $21.5 million, the corporation supports programmes spanning forestry, manufacturing, the built environment, market development, and the commercialisation of new technologies and products.
For applicants, the appeal is a national role in setting how the sector invests in research and product development, not a routine governance appointment. “This is an opportunity to contribute at a national level,” FWPA said.
Directors Australia is managing the recruitment, with applicants asked to provide a current résumé of no more than 3 pages alongside a 1-page cover letter addressing the selection criteria.
Confirmation of the three appointments will follow FWPA’s annual general meeting in November, completing the corporation’s 2026 board renewal. Applications close at midnight on Sunday, 12 July, and the roles are open via the Directors Australia vacancies page.
