One of Australia’s largest structural timber producers is expanding into the greater Hunter region, with the Hyne Group securing Newcastle Pallets, a long-time customer, as part of its newly established Hyne Pallets division.

Now comprising Melbourne-based Rodpak, Express Pallets and Crates (in Queensland), the West Australian Pinetec, and Pallet & Bin Pty Ltd (in Shepperton, Victoria), the acquisition comes as Hyne establishes itself as a power player in the Australian pallet supply chain – who through Newcastle Pallets, taps into a customer base used to freight manufacturing, mining, industrial and agricultural goods cross-country.

“We are really pleased to bring Newcastle Pallets into the Hyne Pallets fold,” according to Jim Bindon, Hyne Group’s CEO. “I welcome the opportunity to have worked with the owner, our previously valued customer, Anthony Turner, to deliver a smooth succession transition for his business. We will also ensure a seamless transition for the staff, customers and suppliers of the business over the coming months.”

Wood Central understands that the acquisition – which will be finalised on September 1 subject to all completion precedents being met – is the second by Hyne in Newcastle, with the group operating a large distribution centre to service Hyne Timber’s customer base with key framing and laminated beam construction timbers: “This acquisition not only presents really good opportunities for our team members, customers and suppliers, but it further integrates the Hyne Group Newcastle region footprint to ensure efficiency and growth into the future,” Bindon said.
