“A growing portion of our client base – multinationals as well as small businesses – want to know more about the sustainability side of what we do as a printer of cardboard products, so Wood Connect was an obvious choice for us.”

Daniel Zaniewski, CEO of Adelaide-based Excel Printing, added: “Embracing the clean, green image is great, but they also want to know where the products they are buying come from.”

Excel Packaging, a family-owned and operated business, is a printer of both plain and coloured cardboard products, specialising in flexographic (flexo) printing. Water-based inks provide a wide variety of colour options for a range of corrugated cardboard products..

“At Excel Packaging, we care about the planet,” Mr Zaniewski said. “That’s why we use only sustainable and recyclable cardboard materials sourced from an Australian packaging covenant signatory.”

Mr Zaniewski says there are multiple advantages in joining Timber Connect from a marketing perspective, and none is greater than giving customers confidence.”

Excel printing is a proud member of Wood Connect – Australia’s newest group chain of custody scheme.

To provide customers with a better and more sustainable packaging experience, Excel is looking to the future by updating manufacturing capabilities. While still focusing on ‘flexo’ printing, the company is expanding into the fields of die-cutting and lithographic printing to offer a wider range of printing services.

Excel is also expanding as they company updates manufacturing machinery to produce a wider range of products more efficiently. This means a wider range of product options that can be printed in a more cost-effective manner, and in less time.

The company is also going digital with an online store where customers can purchase stock-sized cartons that cater to individuals (moving boxes), small businesses, and the wine industry.

“And they will have the sustainability credentials certification brands such as Responsible Wood provide,” Mr Zaniewski said.

“Such certification scheme ensures sustainable forest certification, guaranteeing that forest products such as paper and cardboard are sourced sustainably, are socially just, ecologically sound and economically viable

“And, yes, they will know where it comes from.”
