Australia’s largest forest certification scheme has been recognised for leading the charge towards a greener and more sustainable manufacturing industry.
Announced last week, Responsible Wood – the Australian National Governing Body for PEFC International – was the winner of the Sustainable Industrial Manufacturing Asia Pacific Conference (SIM-PAC Live) Primary Sector Sustainability Award, a testament to its leadership in developing standards that align with positive environmental change.
According to Matt de Jongh, Responsible Wood’s Sustainability Manager, the latest recognition underscores the incredible work done by Responsible Wood and the 350-plus chain of custody certificate holders carrying claims throughout Australia and New Zealand: “This underscores our commitment to driving positive environmental change through leadership in standards development, certification and sustainable forest management.”
SIM-PAC Live is the Asia Pacific region’s premier event for sustainable industrial manufacturing, drawing industry leaders, innovators, and sustainability advocates worldwide. Covering the full spectrum of industrial manufacturing—from mineral extraction to composting—the forum explores ways to integrate sustainability into entire supply chains.
SIM-PAC Live promotes the transition to a circular economy by connecting passionate individuals with actionable solutions through networking events, conferences, and interviews. Presenting at the conference, Mr de Jongh said certification plays a pivotal role in supporting sustainable practices across various industries: “Certified sustainable forestry offers a unique opportunity to significantly reduce embodied carbon in industrial manufacturing by ensuring materials are responsibly sourced and contribute to the circular economy.”
“SIM-PAC Live is an important platform for discussing how certified sustainable forestry can reduce embodied carbon across many industries. By connecting with stakeholders and showcasing actionable solutions, events like this help the forestry sector champion sustainability at every step of the supply chain.”
