The Wood Central team would like to thank our 500,000+ unique users, who made Wood Central their go-to for timber information. With Christmas just around the corner, Wood Central is committing to providing up-to-the-minute coverage on the website and through social and video channels throughout the holiday season.
“We love to do what we do and will continue to provide new content over the holiday period,” said Wood Central’s Publisher, Jason Ross. “So please check in with us at WoodCentral.com.au, keep looking out for our newsletters, scroll through your social media feeds, and find us on YouTube, TikTok and Reddit for updates throughout the festive season.”
Last month, more than 90,000 users visited Wood Central articles – who clicked on more than 200,000 articles, with Mr Ross confirming that growth was strongest amongst the website’s 500-plus case studies: “Organic search is now our major source of growth, with the huge volume of traffic now coming through Google News, Apple News and Yahoo from every country on earth,” with the audience, heavily slanted to those under 45 (62% of total traffic), “searching for content on mass timber, net-zero, deforestation, conflict timber and the global trade in timber products.”
“In addition to web-based articles, our videos also attract more than 10,000 views per week on Linkedin, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok – which are a great way for us to connect to younger audiences with broader stories like Notre Dame, the Olympics and archaeological exploration,” Mr Ross said. “There is such a news vacuum in video content, and we look forward to creating short and long-form content that we can share with younger audiences on new and evolving media platforms.”
Look out for the Wood Central Exchange!
With an eye to 2025, Mr Ross said that Wood Cental is about to launch its most ambitious project to date—the Wood Central Exchange billed as the world’s largest directory of timber-based products: “The new directory will connect hundreds of thousands of users through the Wood Central website with the hundreds (and in time thousands) of timber suppliers, research institutions, industry associations and training providers who can help our users learn more about forestry and how to use wood.”
With almost 3,000 articles already indexed on the web, Mr Ross said that the new directory has responded to demand from users who have emailed info@woodcentral.com.au for more information about suppliers, CPD learning programmes and research inquiries. “We get lots of correspondance from users looking to learn more; now, with the Wood Central Exchange, we can connect those users with partners who can provide more information.”
