From 1st February 2023, CEO Paul Klymenko will step down after 30 years of dedicated service, and co-CEO Rebecca Gilling will assume the role. Klymenko will remain involved as a Board member and Chief Sustainability Advisor, focusing on the Australian Circular Economy (ACE) Hub’s growth and promoting Australia’s transition to a carbon-neutral circular economy.

The new strategic vision for Planet Ark will focus on three key areas:

  • Accelerating Australia’s shift to renewable energy and a carbon-neutral future.
  • Facilitating Australia’s transition to a circular economy, where resources never become waste.
  • Strengthening the connection between people and nature, vital for both human and planetary well-being.

Planet Ark Appointed to Expert Panel Guiding Transition to Circular Economy

Planet Ark and the Australian Circular Economy Hub (ACE Hub) are pleased to have Board Member and Chief Sustainability Advisor Paul Klymenko represent their interests in the group.

The expert group, established by the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment (DAWE), will focus on promoting sustainable practices and reducing waste across various industries.

The circular economy model aims to minimise waste, reduce resource consumption, and promote recycling and reuse of materials. This approach benefits both the environment and the economy by conserving valuable resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating new jobs in sustainable industries.

As a member of this expert group, Planet Ark will leverage its extensive experience in promoting sustainability, resource conservation, and environmental education. The organisation has a strong track record of successful initiatives, including National Recycling Week, National Tree Day, and Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, which have significantly contributed to raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices in Australia.

The expert group will collaborate with stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and non-profit organisations to develop and implement strategies that drive Australia towards a more sustainable, circular economy. This collaborative effort will help ensure a prosperous and environmentally responsible future for the nation.

By joining the expert group, Planet Ark reinforces its commitment to creating positive environmental change and supporting Australia’s journey towards a circular economy.
