Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) has appointed Dr Chris Lafferty as head of Research, Development and Extension and Dr Jodie Mason as head of Forest Research and Learning following a restructure.
The FWPA is an Australian-based Rural Research and Development Corporation (or RDC) funded by the Federal Government, member levies and research grants.
It collaborates with government and industry stakeholders to determine strategy, invest in effective and relevant R&D and deliver programs designed to grow the market for forest and wood products.
The announcement follows the appointment of Kevin Peachey to Head of Built Environment Programs for Forest & Wood Products Australia (FWPA) and WoodSolutions Program.
According to the FWPA, the restructure will lead to the creation of three distinct programs driving future FWPA activities:
• Research, Development and Extension; now headed by Dr Chris Lafferty.
• Forest Research and Learning, now headed by Dr Jodie Mason.
• Built Environment & WoodSolutions Programs, now headed by Kevin Peachy.
FWPA reports that “the updated structure will bolster industry support, provide better internal consistency, and simplify approaches across streams.”
Supporting activities, the marketing and communication team has also been bolstered, with Sarah Downey leading a strong team which now includes Rhiana Archie, Campbell Mayne and Emma Petersson.
It is behind the highly successful ‘Ultimate Renewable’ campaign, with Wood Central reporting that the latest campaign will go live across Australia from Sunday, August 20.
The highly successful $1.8 million campaign will coincide with the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final and screen across free-to-air television, video, radio and social media.
It will run throughout top-rating programs such as The Block, Seven and Nine News and both AFL and NRL matches, including their finals series via video on demand.
The FWPA has also welcomed John Campigli, the new Head of Finance.
