Over 100,000 unique users have visited Wood Central since the website went live in mid-February.
The milestone was achieved on Tuesday, and as of midnight on Friday, the current number of users is 102,684, who have clicked on more than 240,000 articles.
It comes as traffic to our LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok channels continues to grow, with more than 30,000 views on the YouTube channel and more than 1.2 million impressions via LinkedIn.
The latest milestone follows the announcement in late August that Wood Central had broken through the 50,000 barrier, followed by news that Wood Central passed 30,000 users in July.
According to Jason Ross, the Publisher, “Wood Central attracted 37,000 users to the website in September alone, and our time on site, return traffic and most importantly ‘organic search’ traffic continues to climb.”
“We believe this makes Wood Central one of the most trafficked websites in the world for timber, paper and forest-based information.”
“Organic Search” refers to the traffic that arrives via search engines, “these include Google, Yahoo, and Bing”, Mr Ross said, “this is the traffic that has an interest in a topic and has a quest to find out more.”
Since February, more than 1,200 of Wood Central’s articles have now been fully indexed on Google, Yahoo and Bing, “meaning if you look up a topic on timber, construction or forest-based products, there is a good chance you might see one of our articles!”
“We want to get as much information out on the search engines as possible, to keep users informed and communicate the benefits of nature-based solutions to the climate crisis,” Mr Ross said.
Wood Central can reveal, for the first time, some further information about the users who are enjoying the platform.
More than 47% of users are younger than 35, with the top 3 age brackets of users including 25-34 (27% of users), 18-24 (22% of users) and 35-44 (21% of users) and the audience is split 61/39 between male and female.
It can also reveal that Wood Central users are most interested in architecture, technology, news and politics, travel and finance, “with the daily timber case studies continuing to attract strong traffic, especially through organic social media,” Mr Ross said.
And when it comes to technology, more than 69% of our users access Wood Central via smartphone, with almost half the users using Android and Google Chrome!

Of users, over 26,000 are Australian-based, with India (19,000), the United States (8,000), New Zealand (4,000) and the UK (3,500) rounding out the top 5.
Wood Central’s publisher, Jason Ross, confirmed that traffic is strongest in Australia.
“On average, our Australian users spend 2 minutes on the website. New Zealand, Canada and Singapore are next with just over 1 minute per website visit.”
Moving forward, Wood Central is developing a video series (which will feature on its YouTube channel) and a daily TikTok wrap-up and has just started on a directory, which it hopes to roll out sometime next year.
